My MK2 1.4 Petrol has the "IC display doesn't sleep" effect and lately it started to open up the boot randomly. Sometimes when I get into the car and sit down, the trunk-lock opens or when locking the car after arriving home it opens the boot-lock.
Drives. RS/Mk2 GTi. 21 Dec 2020. #4. Its likely a loose/damaged hose, maybe even damaged intercooler, most can be handy got to with the lower front grill off and undertrays. I had the same issue on mine a few years back, “ESP system fault” appeared on the dash and no boost, it had split a weld on the intercooler.

james-st. 3068 posts · Joined 2008. #9 · Apr 6, 2010. I found out mine was overfuelling at a RR session as afr was 10.4 . Maf was faulty. Also possible boost leak as most of my hoses wern't very tight especially the hoses on the turbo! much better now maf has been replaced and all hoses/clamps checked.
